Renée + Imran : Guelph Engagement

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Renée and Imran both went to the University of Guelph. At different times. Imran was finishing up and off traveling when Renée started her undergrad year. Both, not native to Guelph, had come for their undergrad degrees, left, and at some point or another with short detours to Toronto, ended back in Guelph. Their paths were fated to cross as a mutual friend introduced the two and the rest was history.

I met up with Renée and Imran in Guelph (where else?!) for their engagement session. I’m always super excited to shoot sessions outside of Toronto… unfamiliar locations are always a nice challenge and gets me pumped for the possibilities! It also doesn’t hurt that Renée and Imran were uber-fun in front of the camera. Loved the sweet moments of laughter and giddiness that came with this session.

Renée and Imran, thank you so much for letting me capture the beauty of your relationship. You deserve everything that is wonderful in life and I hope your wedding in August is absolutely stunning.

Much love, Jenne.

Happy long weekend!

Stacey + Todd : Distillery Engagement

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

They had known each other for a long while. Stacey was attending Ohio State, rockin’ it on the volleyball court, and Todd would come down with Stacey’s brother and a group of guys to watch some of her games. Nothing quite happened then… he was just one of the guys. It was when Stacey came back home from OSU that they started seeing more of each other on a regular basis. Connections were made and their relationship grew into something more.

It’s always great to witness the different personalities of my clients during their photo sessions. It’s like reaching in to a black velvet bag blindfolded. You never quite know what you’ll get but you know it’s going to be good. Brilliant smiles to smoldering looks (yeah, you read that right… I said smoldering). Stacey and Todd definitely brought their A game. And the bond that they shared was evident from the moment I put the camera up to my eye. Two souls destined to be together. No distance could ever come between that.

Stacey and Todd, it was incredible getting to know you both just a little bit more. I’m super stoked to be documenting your wedding later this fall and capturing so many more memories for you.

Much love, Jenne.

Did I not say smoldering?!

Both of you… gorgeous.

Sigh. I Heart New York.

This post has been on the back burner for a while now but as I was clearing out my hard drive, I came across a batch of photos that I hadn’t processed from last October. Actually I’ve got a few batches of personal stuff that I’m getting around to processing now.

First up. New York. Oh, how I heart you. If I could carry you around in my back pocket and pull you out whenever I wanted, I would in a split second. I’ll settle for pictures instead.

I love New York like cats love catnip. Have you ever seen a cat go crazy if it’s within sniffing distance of catnip? Yeah, that’s me with just a thought of New York. This city excites me like no other. Don’t get me wrong. I love Toronto. I will always love Toronto. It’s home. But New York? Ahh… my beautiful, spacious villa away from home.

I have Karen, my awesome cousin (more like a sister), to thank for introducing me to everything from the Upper East Side down to the Meatpacking District across to Nolita. Cobblestone, bright lights and Broadway. *le sigh*

Thanks KP… seriously, dinner at that new Korean place you found in the West Village is on me the next time I’m down… jumping on a plane now!

Speaking of planes, gorgeous view of Manhattan from my last flight down:

Gorgeous fall hike upstate… beautiful, fiery colours

I can’t remember why KP was propping up the sky here…

Photo shoot-out!

Don’t even get me started on Momofuku. Gastronomical heaven. Anyone who has known me for some length of time has heard me rave about this foodlicious experience. AND, David Chang is expanding to Toronto in 2012! Sweet lord, steamed pork buns available in both of the cities I love more than anywhere in the world!

I’ll be back New York. Keep a light on for me.
