Malaika + Kelvin : The Lake House Wedding

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

It was already about 2 years since they had gotten married. Malaika and Kelvin decided on a low-key wedding ceremony a couple of years ago and now, they were getting ready for a large celebration with all of their friends and family. Their marriage vows reaffirmed and a beautiful reception to close out their special day. Definitely special. How many couples do you know get to go through such a poignant moment twice in their lives in as many years?

I’m fortunate to have known Malaika for a significant portion of my life. In fact, she texted me the other day saying she’d come across one of her high school yearbooks that I had decided to get a little, umm… creative with in the signing process. Yes. I was that girl in high school. The I’m-going-to-see-how-many-pages-I-can-write-across-while-signing-your-yearbook-at-the-end-of-the-year kind of girl. I’m seeing her later this week so I’ll get evidence for y’all.

Malaika and Kelvin, thank you for allowing me to document such a special moment in your lives. Your families, your friends, they were all so welcoming and wonderful. You are both such amazing individuals continuing on a journey with the love and support of amazing people surrounding you.

Love + hugs, Jenne.

Love that the day started out with laughter!

Fascinators… j’adore.

There’s so much to love about Malaika’s Mori Lee wedding gown… and when you pair it with those shoes? Hawwt!

Goooooooorrrrrrr-geous.

The MPC500 cake was a surprise. Kelvin, the DJ/producer/artist that he is, loved it.

Oh, the sweet moments…

Nathalie + Adrian : Evergreen Brick Works Engagement

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Their relationship started with soccer. By chance, unbeknownst to each other, Nathalie and Adrian joined the same soccer league and the same soccer team. Neither knew the other but after many games played, the chemistry between them grew to something more than just one night of soccer per week. It started as strangers to teammates, to friends, then finally love and happiness. Both of their fates sealed when they signed up for that first game of soccer.

Nathalie and Adrian both brought their A-game (pun sooo intended… that’s just how I roll.) to their engagement session at the Evergreen Brick Works. That, plus the fact that this location is quite possibly one of my absolute favourite places to shoot at around Toronto made for an amazing session. The mixture of vibrant colours on the graffiti-ed brick walls to the fresh greenery of the farmer’s market makes this place come alive and when Nathalie showed up in her gorgeous, summery printed dress… oh, it was so on.

Nathalie and Adrian, I love both of your quiet, yet vibrant personalities. You clearly have eyes only for each other and I’m really looking forward to capturing those poignant moments on your wedding day.

Love + hugs, Jenne.

Love this look Adrian… so suave.

You two are so beautiful together…

Nathalie, you are gorgeous.

Erinn + Roger : Oakville Engagement

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

When Erinn and Roger planned their engagement session location in Oakville, I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty excited. Oakville is a gorgeous area on the lake that balances both the charm of a smaller town and the sophistication of a hip, urban city. Yes, that is Oakville in a nutshell, one glamorous nutshell.

Erinn, Roger and Zeus (their adorable pug!) set the stage for an amazing session with plenty of cuddling, love and laughter. With fantastic settings by the lake, down by the marina and in the middle of town, I couldn’t have asked for a better array of locations to capture the connection that Erinn and Roger share, right deep down to the core of their beings.

Erinn, Roger, capturing you two (and Zeus) on camera left me smiling long after the session was done. Thanks for sharing that glimpse into what your lives are like together and I’m really looking forward to documenting your vows on your wedding day.

Love & hugs… Jenne.

Isn’t Zeus just adorable?

Erinn… you are stunning!

Just takes my breath away… stop it you two!

What’s a blog post without some great shoes?!
