And… let the craziness ensue! Boxing Day, one of the biggest shopping days of the year and thank goodness I am not out there amongst the total madness of parking lot wresting matches and razor-sharp elbows of discount-crazed shoppers. Instead, I’m happily and cozily spending this cold, winter day sitting around Graham’s parents’ house in Sault Ste. Marie curled up on a comfy couch with my trusty MacBook. The world is good.

It’s been a great year of becomings… becoming a naturopathic doctor, becoming a photographer, becoming an entrepreneur. I’ve been extremely fortunate to be surrounded by such supportive family and friends. This has been an incredible journey over the last year and I’m excited to to see what the new year has to offer. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and a happy end-of-2008!

What’s a photography blog post without some photos?! I managed to capture some pre-Christmas action involving Nintendo DS’s, Graham and his nieces and nephew and his mom, Cathie. I hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful holiday and celebrating the end of a successful 2008!

This was Waylon’s version of "CHEESE!" when I pointed the camera his way. I can’t believe how big he’s gotten since his last visit to Toronto! And… he remembered my name!

Some festive Christmas ornaments on the tree! Happy holidays!!

I am a firm believer that "professional" photos should not be the staid, boring, stand-in-front-of-a-backdrop photo shoots that is often seen as the tiny little photos on corporate websites. What’s more, I’m also a firmer (yup, just made it up) believer that everyone has a bit of fun in them, okay, maybe more than just a bit… and all it takes sometimes is a bit of gentle coaxing to help it make it’s way to the surface.

So this is why, when Adam contacted me regarding professional photos for his upcoming naturopathic website, I immediately recommended an outdoorsy location in all of its natural, ambient light and glory! Oh, ambient light and non-backdrop-backgrounds, how I love thee!

Adam’s a friend and a colleague from naturopathic college and he’s also a resident at the teaching clinic at school. He’s a multi-faceted individual who I have no doubt, will be very successful in his future both in and out of naturopathic medicine. It was great to be able to shoot both the "professional" and fun sides of Adam for this photo session and I hope this is the trend that will follow for all of my professional session bookings!

Have a look at a few of my favs from the sessions and as always, thanks for stopping by! Much love, Jenne.

I got an email from Clare a few weeks ago wanting family photographs for the holidays. For those of you who may not recall, Clare was my first maternity post while she was about six and a half months pregnant with Sofia and Sofia was a star baby on my blog for a while shortly thereafter! I had to be sure to get Jason in the photos this time around and sure enough, he rose to the occasion like the other stars in his family!

Photographing babies and families is such a wonderful thing but it’s pretty priceless when I’ve been fortunate enough to chronicle a journey from Clare’s prenancy with Sofia to Sofia’s first photo shoot when she was just barely longer than a forearm. Seeing Clare, Jason and Sofia from behind the lense didn’t dampen any of the warmth or fun this young family shares with one another and I’m so happy I had the opportunity to partake in some of these moments and share them with you, reader!

Clare, Jason and Sofia: Thank you for inviting me into your home (once again!) to capture the fun and love that is your family. I hope I’ve done justice in capturing Sofia’s exuberant personality that is naturally an extension of the adoration and passion of you both. With all my heart, Jenne.

My ABSOLUTE favourite photo from this shoot! The expression on Sofia’s face is so priceless!

She’s still rockin’ the "g" diapers! These are really cool cloth diapers with biodegradable, removable inserts… very eco-chic baby!

Clare, being ever-so-talented, made a ABC football (soccer) picture book, starring none other than… Sofia! She just loves gnawing on this book (Sofia, not Clare… ha!)

Okay, are you kidding me!!! How cute is this hot pink Adidas track suit?! Watch for the soccer shoes to come… Jason already plays soccer with her. Look out Christine Sinclair!

Jason came home at this point and received quite the happy welcome!

Yup, definitely made the top photos list!

Such a beautiful family!

I had the opportunity to go out this past weekend and do a photo session with a great couple. Never mind the fact that it was several (well, okay, WAY more than several) degrees below freezing and that exposed noses and cheeks were frozen from the biting wind… Katrina, Dan and I had a blast! But seriously, it was THAT cold.

I know Kat from naturopathic college and we spent a year together busting our butts on the student association as well. She is one hard-working gal who is absolutely dedicated to naturopathic medicine. I was pretty excited when I got a Facebook message from her asking about doing a photo session of her and Dan for the holidays. I was crossing my fingers for snow… what kind of Christmas photos would they be if there wasn’t any snow?? Okay, so there wasn’t that much snow but enough that there was a wintery feel and snowballs could be flung.

Katrina and Dan, I had an awesome time capturing you guys from behind my camera and would probably give up many more frozen toes to do it again sometime (though… hopefully minus the frozen part!). You guys are such a cute and fun couple and totally deserve one another! Love, Jenne.

P.S. To some of my regular readers… I know I’ve been completely slacking on the updates and I wholeheartedly apologize from the bottom of my heart!! I’ll try and make it up to you in the coming weeks!

Kat looks absolutely fantabulous in this photo! One of my favs… more to come!

Seriously, these two are so cute with each other!

Quite possibly my favourite photo from the session!

Definitely a great couple!
