I love New York City. I don’t know what it is about this city. It’s far more memorable than any other city I’ve really visited and I really do feel a connection when I’m there. Yes, it’s a much larger city than Toronto, far more busy and noisy and…. different. I’ve always said that New York is like Toronto, only bigger… but I feel like there’s more to it than that and I can’t quite articulate what I want to say with words.

Maybe it’s that it’s so recognizable. Walking in Grand Central Station, Central Park or through Rockefeller Center is akin to walking on a whole lot of movie sets. It’s pretty cool to watch a movie or tv show set in NYC and see the exact spot I was standing in not a few weeks ago. Not to mention the fact that running nonchalantly into David Duchovny at an upper-eastside gym can be a common occurence.

NYC and I, we are one. If I didn’t love Toronto and Canada as much as I do, I would so be a New Yorker.

Scarpetta is an awesome restaurant in the meat packing district that my cousin took me to while I was visiting her. I can confidently say that if I’m in need of great eats, I can count on Karen to hook me up with the names of some pretty tasty restaurants. The spaghetti with basil tomato sauce was to die for. Fresh pasta and amazing flavour… I am such a sucker for great pasta.

I have to finish this series off with my favourite of the trip in Times Square. It was quite a coincidence that this woman hailed a cab as I was standing there. Classic NYC scene.
