Louise + Craig : Twins On The Way!

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

Babies are always an unexpected joy in a couple’s life… twins? Even better! When Louise saw the look of puzzlement on Craig’s face when he first saw the ultrasound image pop up on the screen, she was a little confused (the screen was facing away from her). When the technician commented that there were two… Louise was like, “two of what?!” and was completely thrown for a loop. They were having twins. One baby boy and one baby girl. Two beautiful children to grow up together, play together and laugh together.

I love the emotion in maternity sessions. The pure adoration and warm fuzzies that the parents-to-be emanate is breathtaking. As I watched and documented the simple gestures of love and care that were shared between Louise and Craig, it was clearly apparent that the two beautiful children waiting to be born would have no better guardians in their lives.

Louise, Craig: Thank you for allowing me to capture such a wonderful moment in your lives. I’m looking forward to meeting your lovely bundles in the next little while!

Much love & hugs, Jenne.

Dali’s looking forward to some new playmates… I’m sure they’ll keep her pretty busy and pooped!

Love Louise’s mama-to-be glow!

One of my faves…

This next series of Louise just blows me away!

Becky + James : Toronto Engagement

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

As far as engagement sessions go, this one was pretty awesome… it was for family after all.

I got a call from my cousin James asking if I could be his photographer for his upcoming wedding. When I heard that James had proposed to Becky, I’ll have to admit… I was surprised. James had dropped some hints about proposing in the new year and had already asked if I would consider being the photographer but I wasn’t expecting to be documenting this momentous occasion this year! Surprise was quickly overcome with congratulations and happiness for my older cousin. He definitely deserved to have a special, kind and loving person in his life and Becky showed up at the right place and time.

From a paramedic to an army veteran returned from Afghanistan to an engaged and soon to be married man, I am so proud of James in so many ways. Growing up, he was like an older brother to me… he let me play with his toys (seriously, I didn’t really like playing with Barbie… Really? Why would you want to play with a doll when you can play with G.I. Joe, toy tanks and some pretty cool car sets. Yeah, yeah, definitely a tomboy. But I digress…), listen to all his cassette collections (wow, is that word still in the dictionary?) and just let me hang out in his room for no reason at all. Pretty frickin’ cool.

James, I can’t believe it’s come to a point in our lives where I get to document such a special moment in your life. I’m so honoured that you’ve asked me to be your photographer and I can’t wait for your wedding day next month. Becky, in the short time we’ve spent together, you already seem pretty awesome and I’m really looking forward to getting to know you better!

So much love & hugs, Jenne.

The morning light at the Evergreen Brick Works (Formerly known as the Don Valley Brick Works) was just stunning!

Absolutely my favourite image from the session…

Cameron : Wee Little Baby

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Newborns are just incredible little things. They sleep, they cry, they lie content in their parents’ arms. And they smell sooo good! I had the opportunity to document two amazing moments in Cameron’s life… before his birth while Mary and Tom patiently awaited his entrance into the world and his first week as a newborn, all ready to take the world by storm.

Cameron is the most adorable little baby… he was a great teeny model and as far as newborns go, pretty darn patient. As long as he was fed, warm and fairly undisturbed in his daytime naps, he couldn’t have been happier. It was so clear that Mary and Tom were completely smitten with their new bundle, and really… who can blame them? World… meet Cameron.

I have to note, I love black and whites for baby images… I don’t know what it is, perhaps the simplicity of the lack of colour and the amplification of emotion… whatever it is, I love it.

This last sequence is my favourite… so adorable!
